Silly Putty

Supplies



20 Mule Team Borax Detergent Booster

5oz Elmer’s Glue

2½ cup water

3-medium or large bowls

2-spoons


1) Add 2 cups of water to a bowl.

2) Add 1/4 cup of borax slowly while stirring until the mixture saturated. -Note- You’ll see undissolved borax at the bottom of the bowl.

3) Let the mixture sit. This allows all of the extra the borax settles to the bottom.

4) Pour the liquid into another bowl leaving behind the undissolved borax. -Note- If you get the undissolved borax in the final silly putty product the silly putty may be a little grainy.

5) Add 5oz or a little under ¾ cup of glue (one bottle of Elmer’s glue) or to the bowl. Add about one tablespoon of water to the empty bottle and shake it. Pour that in the bowl with the glue. Repeat two more times.

6) Add ¼ cup of water to the bowl containing the glue. Stir until well mixed. Add food coloring to glue mixture. -Note- If color swirled silly putty is desired, add a different color food coloring to the borax and water mixture. Stir until well mixed.

7) Add ½ cup of the borax mixture to the bowl containing the glue mixture.

8) Reach into the bowl with your hand and mix.
